Arizona Driver License Revocations*

The Arizona MVD can revoke (remove) your privilege to drive for many reason. Some of the common offenses that result in loss of license are listed below.

Once the revocation time period has ended, your privilege to drive will not automatically reinstate. First, an investigation must be completed. The purpose of the investigation is to determine that all MVD/DMV actions have concluded, and that you have met all of the requirements for reinstatement.

To apply for reinstatement, you will be required to pay an application fee, and a reinstatement fee, and you may be required to file an SR-22 certificate (aka, a Certificate of Insurance). The MVD may also require you to submit to a vision test, a written test and/or a road test.

The following will cause your Arizona Driving Privilege to be revoked:

  1. Driving a vehicle under the influence of any drug (this is a drug DUI under ARS 28-1381(a)(3))
  2. Any homicide or aggravated assault involving use of a vehicle
  3. Any felony in which a vehicle is used
  4. Perjury relating to the ownership or operation of a vehicle
  5. Perjury or making false statements to MVD under oath
  6. Failure to stop and render aid at the site, if you are involved in a traffic accident
  7. Drive-by shooting
  8. Aggravated DUI (Driving while Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs)(this includes DUI with 2 or more priors in 7 years, DUI with a suspended license, and DUI with a child in the vehicle)

Your driving privilege will also be revoked for two or more convictions for:

  1. DUI
  2. Reckless driving
  3. Racing on the highways

Your driving privilege may be revoked for:

  1. Failure to take and pass a required driving retest
  2. If you are determined to be medically, psychologically or physically incapable of operating a motor vehicle
  3. If continued operation of a motor vehicle would endanger the public health, safety and welfare
