Arizona MVD: DMV License After Failing to Appear or Pay a Fine

The Arizona MVD will not issued or renew a license if the MVD has been notified that you have not appeared for court for a traffic violation. When you are ticketed for a traffic violation, by signing the ticket you gave your promise to appear in traffic court. If you don't appear in court, or don't pay a fine, the court may tell the MVD to suspend your driving privilege.

Once suspended for this reason, you will usually have to clear the matter up with the court first. The court will then clear your status so that you can reinstate your license with the MVD. Be careful not to assume that your driving privilege is reinstated just because the court cleared your fine or warrant. Always contact the Arizona MVD to double check. You can also pull the status of your license online at servicearizona.com by requesting your drivers abstract.
